Post Doctoral Researcher - Group Food Security

Post Doctoral Researcher - Group Food Security
Location: Queretaro Campus

Disruption is the new normal, and at Tecnológico de Monterrey, every morning we wake up with the responsibility of transforming our surroundings. Our processes are people-centered, ensuring extraordinary experiences through our talent and the innovative Educational Model. Here, you’ll find your purpose, seize innovative opportunities, and be part of a collaborative culture based on inclusion, meritocracy, and respect.

What will you do?
The successful candidate will be involved in executing and publishing research on new fertilization strategies, including manure management and enrichment, nano-enabled biostimulants, and nutrient delivery in crops, covering nanoformulation, plant uptake, and efficacy, as well as greenhouse and field trials—aiming for scalable, sustainable solutions for food security. The candidate will be working in close collaboration with Dr. Diego Eloyr Navarro López on a main project, “Plant nanobiotechnology management”.

Your main challenges will be:

  • This postdoctoral project advances plant nanobiotechnology to deliver scalable, sustainable fertilization strategies for food security. The fellow will develop and validate two complementary approaches: (i) manure management and enrichment to improve nutrient value and stability, and (ii) nano-enabled biostimulants and nutrient delivery systems with controlled release.
  • Work will span nanoformulation and physicochemical characterization; assays of plant uptake, translocation, and efficacy using physiological readouts; and rigorous greenhouse and field trials under robust experimental designs.
  • The role includes establishing SOPs and FAIR data workflows, performing statistical and multivariate analyses, and translating results into manuscripts and technical guidance for stakeholders.
  • Expected outcomes are improved nutrient-use efficiency and yield without compromising environmental performance, alongside a reproducible pipeline that de-risks lab-to-field deployment of nano-enabled and organic fertilization strategies.

What are we looking for?

  • PhD in Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Biochemistry, or related.
  • Strong scientific production (JCR Journals  and/or international conferences)
  • Extensive knowledge and handling of analytical techniques, HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, DLS.
  • Excellent oral and writing skills in English.
  • Knowledge in the management and processing of manure samples.
  • Strong abilities in ex vitro plant management.
  • Knowledge in the management of nanoparticles.

Why work with us?
Our talent is the driving force behind our success. Their talent, dedication, and passion are the fundamental pillars of our organization. That’s why we focus on offering quality benefits that promote emotional balance, financial well-being, and professional development.
