Faculty Position – Institute for Obesity Research (IOR)
The Institute for Obesity Research (IOR) was created to generate cutting-edge knowledge through scientific rigor and analysis, developing ideas and innovative solutions to address the problem of obesity through inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration, and fostering the creation of science-based technological enterprises that improve the health and well-being of individuals and society.
The IOR represents an exciting opportunity for faculty members to develop and lead research activities focused on the prevention and treatment of obesity and metabolic diseases in Mexican and Latin American populations, both within Tecnológico de Monterrey and beyond.
This position emphasizes the study of pathophysiological mechanisms associated with obesity-related comorbidities.

The Institute for Obesity Research invites ambitious researchers at all career stages to apply for faculty positions in any of its research units, with the goal of developing world-class interdisciplinary research at Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and networking skills, maintain a broad network of collaborators, and show enthusiasm for taking on promising and stimulating challenges.

PhD in Immunology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Biophysics, Medicine, or a related field (required).

Solid record of publications in high-impact journals (Q1/Q2) over the past five years.

Advanced proficiency in English (CEFR level C1 or equivalent to TOEFL 600). A sufficient level of Spanish is desirable but not mandatory.

Membership in the National System of Researchers (SNI) of CONAHCyT in Mexico, or equivalent credentials.

SNI Level 2 preferred.

Proven experience in securing external funding from national or international sources.

Preference will be given to candidates with strong leadership potential and commitment to developing an innovative research agenda that produces scientific impact, technological development, and opportunities for technology-based entrepreneurship.
Expected Outcomes

Secure external research funding.

Publish articles in Q1–Q2 journals as principal investigator.

Participate as a thesis advisor in the institution’s graduate programs.

Dedicate 25% of working time to teaching within an academic school corresponding to the candidate’s discipline at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Engage in national and international research networks and events.

As part of its Vision 2030, Tecnológico de Monterrey established the Institute for Obesity Research (IOR), with a special focus on research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Researchers at IOR work across different facilities and campuses within the Tec de Monterrey system, providing a platform for interdisciplinary research and access to laboratories and diverse populations across Mexican states.
Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and principal investigators (PIs) utilize laboratory and research facilities across campuses, including genomics and metabolomics laboratories, animal facilities, experimental fields and greenhouses, computational resources, and more.
