Director of the Biotechnology Center

What will you do?

1. Lead the international positioning strategy of the FEMSA Biotechnology Center.

2. Promote the development of applied research and cutting-edge technology.

3. Actively foster engagement with industry, government, and society.

4. Participate in the design and implementation of incubation schemes for biotechnology-based companies.

5. Oversee the strategic and sustainable use of the Center’s infrastructure.

6. Establish and strengthen partnerships with national and international research centers.

7. Ensure the sustainability of the Center’s operational model.

Your main challenges will be:

1. Position the Biotechnology Center as a reference in its field at the international level, significantly contributing to the institution’s prestige and the positioning of Tec de Monterrey as the number one university in Latin America.

2. Drive scientific and technological productivity by enabling the development of applied research and/or technological development projects, strengthening student and faculty collaboration, and integrating research as a key component of science and engineering education.

3. Promote the attraction of funding through collaboration with industry, government, and society in strategic applied research and technology development projects that strengthen academic infrastructure and increase faculty and student participation in high-impact initiatives.

4. Together with the Monterrey Innovation District and the Eugenio Garza Lagüera Institute for Entrepreneurship, design and implement incubation schemes for biotechnology-based companies to promote and strengthen the Innovation District’s national and international reputation.

5. Plan and lead initiatives to optimize the use, conservation, and growth/improvement of the Biotechnology Center’s infrastructure to support research, entrepreneurship, and the Tec21 Model.

6. Establish partnerships with national and international research centers to expand experimentation/production capacity according to researchers’ needs.

7. Ensure the sustainability of the Center’s operational model by maintaining a healthy balance between financial health and institutional impact, positioning, and academic benefits.

What are we looking for?
• Ph.D. in Biotechnology or related fields.
• At least 3 years of experience in managing applied research and/or technological development projects.
• At least 3 years of experience in applied research in Biotechnology or related areas.
• Advanced English proficiency (minimum C1 level or 600 TOEFL score).
