The School of Architecture, Art, and Design (EAAD) at Tecnológico de Monterrey is the only national school in Mexico specializing in architecture, design, and digital art. With a presence in 9 cities and 12 campuses, the school offers programs that impact more than 5,800 students and is supported by 670 faculty members. EAAD fosters academic mobility across its campuses and has an extensive international network that enhances its global impact.
Within this innovative ecosystem, the Cities Initiative seeks to strengthen its research efforts.
About the Cities Initiative
The Cities Initiative integrates knowledge, methodologies, tools, and data to address urbanization challenges in Mexico. Its ecosystem consists of:
- Urban Observatory
- Research Group
- C+Lab Cities Laboratory (practical knowledge application)
- Academic programs related to urban and territorial studies, such as the Bachelor in Urbanism, Bachelor in Architecture, and Master's in Architecture and Urban Design.
Role Overview
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to projects within the Cities Initiative, aiming to transform Mexican cities and territories through innovative solutions. This role will focus on:
- Contextual approach: Deep understanding of local conditions as the foundation for design.
- Narrative articulation: Developing cohesive narratives for diverse Mexican territories.
- Research by design: Supporting governance, education, and capacity-building with knowledge-based methods.
- Interscalar approach: Creating connected systems from landscape to architecture.
- Systemic collaboration: Promoting interdisciplinary efforts for sustainable urban development.
This work will reinforce EAAD’s national impact, empowering students and stakeholders with transformative tools for a better future.
Candidate Profile
This opportunity is for you if:
- You hold a Doctorate in urban studies, architecture, or related fields.
- You have demonstrated research experience in architecture or urban studies through high-level publications and international conference participation.
- You have participated in at least one funded research project and are familiar with funding processes.
- You possess an advanced level of English (minimum B2 or 550 TOEFL points).
