1. What will you do?
As Regional Department Director, you will join one of the leading educational institutions in Latin America, consistently ranked among the best universities worldwide, recognized for academic excellence, educational innovation, and international impact.
This position responds to the need to lead the Regional Department of Computing in the Mexico City Region, based at the Estado de México Campus, ensuring academic excellence, the consolidation of an inspiring faculty team, and the promotion of applied research with impact on productivity, innovation, and industrial sustainability. The goal is to strengthen the Department of Computing within the School of Engineering and Sciences.
From this role, you will contribute to the education of highly competitive students, the strengthening of the academic body, and the institutional positioning of Tecnológico de Monterrey at both national and international levels, through academic practice aligned with global standards of quality, impact, and relevance.
2. How will you do it?
Your main challenges will include:
- Ensure the academic quality of Computing courses and experiences across the region’s campuses.
- Lead full-time and adjunct faculty at the host campus, as well as Associate Department Directors (ADDs) of the discipline at other campuses.
- Coordinate the attraction, evaluation, hiring, and development of faculty, aligned with the objectives of the School of Engineering and Sciences.
- Monitor Personal Development Plans and teaching performance.
- Foster applied research, technological development, and collaboration with companies and public and private organizations in areas such as productivity, sustainability, logistics, industrial analytics, automation, and digital transformation.
- Design, promote, and implement continuing education programs, including diplomas, refresher courses, and industrial consulting projects, in collaboration with the corresponding institutional areas.
- Participate in the planning and administration of the Department’s academic resources, including proposing and managing investments in laboratories.
- Design and execute the Department’s operational and strategic planning at the regional level, with clear performance indicators for academic quality, external engagement, and economic impact, in line with the school’s objectives in the region.
- Implement national initiatives and institutional strategies in the discipline, ensuring their adaptation and execution at the regional level.
- Address and channel concerns from students, faculty, and parents related to the Department.
- Promote interdisciplinary projects with other areas of the School, especially in topics such as digital transformation, automation, applied artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
3. What are we looking for?
- Academic degree: PhD in Computing or a related discipline.
- English proficiency: Level B2 (CEFR), demonstrable.
- Teaching, applied research, and/or academic leadership experience.
- Experience in academic talent management, operational planning, and industry engagement.
- Knowledge or experience in developing continuing education programs, consulting, or diplomas (desirable).
- Ability to manage multi-campus teams and collaborate within matrix structures.
