Open Postdoctoral Position

The School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnológico de Monterrey invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow within the Research Group Water 360. The successful candidate will be engaged in: Artificial Intelligence Techniques applied to Water Quality Estimations. The candidate will be working in close collaboration with Dr. Jurgen Mahlknecht at a main project Participate Water Monitoring.

Research Issues/(research project):

The main research activities will be related to the estimation of water quality parameters in groundwater using artificial intelligence techniques in a regional, national and global context. The water quality parameters considered may include nitrates, sulfates and rock-derived toxic elements (Arsenic, Fluoride, Uranium and Selenium), as well as emerging contaminants such as antibiotics, PFAS, and personal care products, among others. It is expected that the candidate will write outstanding scientific articles for high reputed journals (top 10% journals). The research activities will also include field work during sampling campaigns, laboratory work, etc.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • PhD in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geosciences
  • Strong scientific production (JCR Journals and international conferences)
  • Strong experience in modelling and artificial intelligence applied to environmental systems
  • Excellent oral and writing skills in English
  • Familiarity with the Mexican context and knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.

 

Compensation:

 

  • Full-time for one year, with possible extension to two years, depending on performance.
  • Starting date July/August 2024
