What will you do?

The postdoctoral researcher will support the research activities of Dr. César Vargas Rosales' group, whose work focuses on telecommunications, signal processing, cybersecurity, intelligent algorithms, and quantum technologies. The successful candidate will be expected to execute research projects, publish scientific articles in high-impact indexed journals, and contribute to the visibility and dissemination of the group's research activities and events. In addition, the researcher will support undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty members and specialists. The position also involves participation in funding calls and grant proposal development to secure research resources. 

 

Your main challenges will be:

Lead the development of a specific research project on Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) based on Agentic AI, Reinforcement Learning (RL), and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) for the protection of smart grids and their communication infrastructures.
Support the training and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.

Contribute to other research projects requiring their expertise and technical skills.

Assist in the preparation of scientific publications, research protocols, and grant proposals aimed at securing external funding.
Develop a research line in cybersecurity and communication networks focused on traffic monitoring, anomaly detection, and autonomous cyberattack response mechanisms.

 

What are we looking for?

Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, obtained before December 2025.
Demonstrated research experience supported by scientific outputs, preferably publications in Q1/Q2 journals.
Knowledge of cybersecurity for communication networks.
Knowledge of intrusion detection systems, anomaly detection, and network traffic analysis.
Fundamental knowledge of machine learning and reinforcement learning.

Fundamental knowledge of quantum computing, post-quantum cryptography, or quantum resilience.
Knowledge of wireless technologies, IoT, 5G, or 6G.
Fundamentals of simulation, stochastic and statistical modeling, and experimental system evaluation.
Programming experience in Python, network simulation tools, and hardware or edge

Computing platforms such as ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Jetson, or equivalent technologies.
Strong motivation to write scientific articles, research protocols, and funding proposals.
Enthusiasm for training and supervising undergraduate and graduate students.

Excellent written and spoken English skills.
