Investigador (a) PostDoctoral IAMSM
IAMSM Postdoctoral position
The Institute of Advanced Materials for Sustainable Manufacturing (https://tec.mx/en/institute-advanced-materials-sustainable-manufacturing) has been created to research, innovate, and foster science and technological entrepreneurship in developing advanced materials and creating sustainable manufacturing processes with the potential to impact industrial transformation and to contribute to a carbon-neutral economy. The institute focuses on three main challenges:
- To advance original state-of-the-art science created for developing novel materials or devices and their associated sustainable manufacturing technologies evidencing the latest trends and fulfilling society's present and future needs.
- Design advanced materials for different applications to contribute to a net-zero emission and zero carbon footprint.
- Create and develop high-tech manufacturing processes to accelerate and rapidly scale up the production of advanced materials with minimum environmental impact.
The IAMSM invites researchers with skills in experimentation, modeling, and the use of cutting-edge sustainable manufacturing technologies to apply for postdoctoral positions to conduct world-class interdisciplinary research that will advance knowledge generated to develop the next generation of smart biodegradable polymers. This position is a one-year contract (renewable for one additional year in case of outstanding performance). Part of the position´s responsibility may include, under certain special conditions, helping his/her supervisor as a teaching assistant, not exceeding 25% of the time.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Nanosciences, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in polymer synthesis or processing of smart materials.
- Proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Spanish proficiency is desirable but not required.
- A minimum of two peer-reviewed scientific journal publications indexed in Scopus or Web of Science.
- Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary and international research environments.
- Hands-on experience with characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, thermal analysis (DSC, TGA).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with polymer processing techniques such as extrusion, injection molding, compression molding or similar.
- Experience with the functionalization of nanostructures and development of biopolymers for sustainable engineering applications.
- Participation in industry-funded or international collaborative research projects.
